Content Lead
Build and shape how Grain, Ember, and Weddings by Grain show up in the world — through thoughtful storytelling, strong creative instincts, a good sense for content that feels on-brand and worth remembering.
This role sits at the intersection of brand, marketing, and execution. We’re looking for someone who can think strategically about storytelling and brand perception, while still being hands-on enough to write captions, refine EDM subject lines, schedule posts, brief creators, and get great work out the door.
At Grain, we believe content is not just about posting consistently — it’s one of the most important ways we connect people through food.
Outcomes:
Build and maintain a cohesive content engine across Grain, Ember, and Weddings by Grain
Define and establish Ember’s brand voice and storytelling playbook as the brand evolves
Deliver consistently high-quality copy and messaging across social, EDMs, UI/UX, SEO, and campaigns
Develop scalable systems for content production, creator briefs, and workflows
Improve measurable performance across content-driven channels (organic reach, engagement, SEO, EDM performance)
Help shape how our brands are perceived — not just what gets posted
What you'll do:
Lead and manage the content calendar across Grain, Ember, and Weddings by Grain
Own copywriting across all major touchpoints — social media, EDMs, landing pages, UI/UX, ads, SEO, menus, and campaigns
Shape Ember’s tone of voice and content identity from the ground up
Develop creative and content briefs with clear strategic thinking behind them
Brief and manage creators, collaborators, and UGC partners to ensure output is aligned with the brand
Work closely with creative, product, operations, and leadership teams to bring campaigns and stories to life
Contribute to broader brand and marketing conversations beyond just content execution
Monitor content performance and continuously improve based on insights and data
Explore and integrate AI tools and workflows that improve efficiency without compromising quality or craft
We're looking for someone who:
Thinks strategically, but is still deeply hands-on
Can move fluidly between high-level brand thinking and detailed execution
Has strong taste and discernment in storytelling, branding, and content
Is highly organised and comfortable context-switching across multiple brands and priorities
Can turn ambiguity into clarity and momentum
Takes ownership without needing to be chased
Cares deeply about craft, details, and quality
Is curious about how AI can improve workflows and scale creative output — without losing the human taste and judgment that make great brands memorable
Enjoys both thinking and doing
Skills and qualifications:
4–7 years of experience in content, brand, content, marketing, or storytelling-related roles
Strong copywriting portfolio across multiple formats and tones
Experience building or managing brand voice across different channels
Experience managing content calendars and multi-channel campaigns
Strong understanding of social platforms, audience psychology, and digital storytelling
Comfortable working in fast-moving, ambiguous environments
Familiarity with SEO, EDM platforms, analytics, and content performance tracking
Bonus: experience in hospitality, lifestyle, food, or consumer brands
Important note:
This is not a traditional “social media manager” role.
You’ll likely thrive here if you enjoy building brands from the inside out, care about the details, and are energised by both strategy and execution. Some days you’ll be shaping a long-term brand voice. Other days you’ll be refining a CTA, fixing an awkward caption, reviewing creator outputs, or figuring out how AI can automate repetitive tasks so the team can spend more time on work that actually matters.
We care deeply about quality, storytelling, and craft — but we also value speed, adaptability, and people who are willing to roll up their sleeves.
What's in it for you:
Opportunity to shape multiple growing brands with distinct personalities and audiences
Ownership over storytelling and brand expression across the business
Chance to help define a modern F&B brand voice from the ground up
Work closely with a lean, ambitious team that cares about doing things thoughtfully
Room to grow into a broader brand or marketing leadership role over time
You should include these in your application:
CV or LinkedIn profile
Writing portfolio or samples (social posts, articles, UI copy, etc.)
Tell us about a piece of content you created that you're proud of. What was the objective and how did it perform?
What brand's social content do you admire? Why does it stand out to you?
